Waiting On Wednesday: Infinity Son by Adam Silvera

Title: Infinity Son (Infinity Cycle #1) by Adam Silvera

Published: January 14, 2020 by HarperTeen

Genre: YA Fantasy

Synopsis

Growing up in New York, brothers Emil and Brighton always idolized the Spell Walkers—a vigilante group sworn to rid the world of specters. While the Spell Walkers and other celestials are born with powers, specters take them, violently stealing the essence of endangered magical creatures.

Brighton wishes he had a power so he could join the fray. Emil just wants the fighting to stop. The cycle of violence has taken a toll, making it harder for anyone with a power to live peacefully and openly. In this climate of fear, a gang of specters has been growing bolder by the day.

Then, in a brawl after a protest, Emil manifests a power of his own—one that puts him right at the heart of the conflict and sets him up to be the heroic Spell Walker Brighton always wanted to be.

Brotherhood, love, and loyalty will be put to the test, and no one will escape the fight unscathed.

Why I’m Excited For This

Besides the fact that it’s Adam freaking Silvera? While Adam is an auto buy author for me and one of my few favorites, I sincerely am excited to see something new from him! His work so far has been mostly contemporary—which I loved and adored with my whole heart—and something I pick up mostly to make me feel something.

This new book is fantasy and he’s mentioned quite a few times that he mercilessly killed quite a few characters since fantasy has very few boundaries. I’m looking forward to seeing the strong, emotional bonds that Adam so beautifully creates in a magical setting. I adore sibling relationships in books and I really hope this delivers.

Adam Silvera, king of contemporary and tears, is trying out his hand in fantasy and I am here for it. Since fantasy is my main genre, I’m stoked to read what he’s been keeping secret for so long. But who are we kidding, I’d read anything he writes.

Have you read anything by Adam Silvera? Are you excited about this one too? Which genre do you prefer: contemporary or fantasy?

Thanks for reading! For more bookish content, follow me on Goodreads, Instagram, and Twitter. See you in the next post. Love, Destiny
